Me & Arrow on Daily Candy
We were instantly impressed with Me & Arrow. Natsuko Hagiwara, the creative mind behind it all, explains that it’s really quite simple.
Start with a basic shape. The signature style, the Toto, is a square tote occasionally jazzed up with a patch pocket and always lined in sensible cotton. The just-introduced shoulder bag is a slouchy, midsize sack with a magnetic fold-over flap.
Then, spend countless hours hunting for the perfect deadstock fabrics and remnant leathers. Sort through heaps of vintage castoffs before settling on the few that stand out thanks to color, texture, print, and quality. Assemble enough woolly pyramid, fuzzy plaid, silky suede, rare denim, and soft leather for the season.
Have each bag made by hand in Los Angeles. Finish every one with high-functioning details such as sword-like zipper pulls and cut-leather arrow fletching shapes to connect straps.
She said nothing about it being easy.
